Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get.


What should I wear for a portrait photography session?

For the classic timeless approach simple clothing is best. Solid colored clothing in middle to dark tones work very well. They give the illusion of timelessness of the image. Shy away from stripes, or busy patterns that could date the image years from now - instead think about blending textures to achieve the most natural look, casual dress is usually preferred. What should I Bring for a portrait session?

Bring Props- Are you involved in sports? Cool, you sports equipment can make excellent photo session props! Whether your into dance, cheerleading, motocross or music? We can feature photos of you in your team uniforms and with sports equipment like mountain bikes, custom vehicles, pompoms etc... We want to make your pictures an expression of who you are right now and these activities are part of that.

You're welcome to bring lots of clothes for mixing and matching outfits. Get creative! Bring hats, cool shoes, boots, jackets, jewelry, scarves-you name it! Got an awesome dress? Feel free to bring that, too. If you're unsure about something, bring it anyway.


What should I do with my hair?

Hair Do's & Dont's- Don't cut your hair right before a photo session if you can help it. Try to plan your session like 2-3 weeks after a hair cut, to allow your hair a chance to grow into its new style.

Typically it's very dry up here in Tahoe. You know what seems to help with staticky, flyaway hair? Use a moisturizing hair conditioner while your in the dry Sierras. Also have you ever noticed how when you switch shampoos ,you know how at first the new shampoo leaves your hair so soft and manageable? Consider trying a new shampoo a few days before the shoot and see how your hair is.


Will the prints have the Kirkwood resort logo on it?

You must email us before you place your order if you want the Kirkwood logo on your photo. We will place the logo on your picture(s) and upload the images to your gallery from which you can order photo gifts, prints and enlargements. Just email us at: logo@flowskipix.com Please note: Photos ordered without the logo cannot be reprinted.


I have not received my photos, what should I do?

You should have prints in about 10 days. If you have not received them, please contact: help@smugmug.com via email. Please put your order number in the email.


We can't find our photos, what should we do?

We usually have your photos uploaded and ready to view the day following your shoot. Although rare, due to circumstances beyond our control (computers?) your photos may not be available for 48 hours. Has it been a few days? Please email us at help@flowskipix.com for assistance in finding your photos.


Do you sell discounted photo print packages?

Sorry, our pro gallery service provider does not offer that option. All our photos are sold ala carte, but taking into consideration that most of our clients purchase several items, they are affordably priced just like they were part of a package, but with complete flexibility. Just put together a nice custom "package" of your by selecting a variety of different sizes from the many your photographer took. If you need a bunch of copies of a particular image or two, contact us about a discount, or just purchase the appropriate royalty free digital download and print your own pictures up.


Do we sell the digital image?

Yes, We have 2 different download qualities in your choice of personal or commercial use.
  • Low Resolution downloads are 1MP which is suitable for internet use such as on your blog, my-space or website as a profile/bio photo.
  • The Original Full Resolution downloads are also available, allowing you to create your own prints, enlargements, photo gifts etc.
To purchase your royalty free digital images, just click and order right at your gallery! Immediately following your digital download purchase you'll be taken to a special download screen, where you'll be able to download the royalty free image to your computer.


How long does it take to get my photos after I order?

The average delivery time for printing and shipping prints and photo gifts is 7-10 days. Digital downloads are available immediately upon purchase.


What type of paper do you use for our prints and enlargements?

Glossy and Matte prints and enlargements are printed on Kodak Edge photo paper. All Lustre Prints and enlargements are printed on Kodak Supra Endura.

What About Longevity? KODAK Endura (Lustre) and Edge (Glossy, Matte) papers are designed to last for generations. KODAK's tested light-keeping is equivalent to 100+ years before noticeable fading occurs in a typical home display, and over 200 years in dark storage!


What is the lustre finish?

This is our premium print choice. The lustre print has a smooth surface and pearl-like textured non-glare finish on long lasting, archival quality, professional-grade Kodak Endura Paper. Lustre paper has a deeper color-saturation than matte paper, plus it has a higher contrast ratio and is thicker than consumer grade print paper.


What is the matte finish?

The matte finishes have a very smooth, non-glare surface. Matte finishes have a lower-contrast when printed and are often used to enhance the texture of a print. It also has less glare than with glossy prints. The matte finish tends to reduce the appearance of finger prints and smudges.


What is the gloss finish?

The gloss photo finish is a shiny, sharp, print with smooth paper texture. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and look slick to the touch when not under glass. This finish has an excellent dynamic range and color - slightly more "pop" than the matte paper, though less noticeable once framed. Photos will have a shiny finish, colors will be vibrant, and images will be crisp and sharp.


How do I order Photo Gift and Specialty Items like Mugs and Puzzles

After you put the image in your cart, click on the drop down menu on the little arrow to the right of where it says "Standard Prints" and select photo gifts.


How long will photos be available?

We will have your photographs available for re-ordering additional prints for many years. Bookmark the gallery to see your pictures anytime.


How do I schedule an appointment?

To schedule an appointment, please email us at appointments@flowskipix.com or call 530-206-6223. Please give us a day in advance to arrange for your appointment. $50 Deposit is required (Deposit may be applied toward photo purchase).


What if I am not happy with my prints?

We make every effort to ensure your satisfaction. If there's an issue with your order, our printing service (SmugMug) will be happy to reprint the print(s) at no cost. If necessary we will promptly refund your full purchase amount.


How can I get a photo moved to the staff gallery?

Please copy the URL from the browser bar (example: http://flowskipixkirkwood.smugmug.com/gallery....) and email it to us and we'll move the photo to the staff gallery for you. Our email address is help@flowskipix.com

Who does the photo printing etc...?

Our printing, shipping and follow up customer service is provided in co-operation with SmugMug. We just shoot the images, edit and upload, then SmugMug.com takes it from there! They host our gallery and take the orders. SmugMug then charges your credit card when you order. They also print and ship your photos. They also provide follow-up customer service. They do an exceptional job, after 3 years with them we've had no problems, and that's amazing!


Can I scan or duplicate my prints?

No, please don't. Your photography is copyright protected by FlowSkiPix.com Technically, it's against the law to scan, duplicate or save it to your computer, unless you purchase the royalty free digital download. You are welcome to order photos for years to come. We offer many products so you should be able to order what you need. If you don't see what you need please email us at: help@flowskipix.com


The prints we received after ordering are great, just one problem however, it's not us. What should we do?

This is very rare, however in the unlikely event that there an ill-fated switch-up at the lab, Contact help@smugmug.com via email, they do all our printing, shipping and post order customer service. NOTE: If the photos in the viewing gallery are not you, please use the contact form to alert us promptly.


Do I need a credit card to order photographs?

Yes- You will need a credit or debit card to order your prints from us online. SmugMug.com is our photo service provider and they do not accept any form of payment other than credit or debit cards.


I don't have a credit or debit card how can I order online?
